As Barbie continues to dominate the box office, HMD Global has jumped on the bandwagon with its home repairable Nokia 42 5G now available in a So Pink colorway which is sure to draw everyone’s attention. Priced at just £199, the Nokia G42 5G packs in a a 50MP main camera, 6.56-inch 90Hz display, a 5,000mAh battery, and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480+ 5G chipset.
Having partnered up with iFixit, HMD Global’s Nokia 42 5G can be easily repaired at home thanks to repair kits starting from just £19 and the necessary how-to guides available on the site. Whether it’s a cracked display, broken charging port, or replacing a battery, you can do it from the safety of your own home. The back panel is plastic and removable, something that will aid the easy repair of the handset.
Speaking of the 6.56-inch display, it has HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. IP52 certification means that it’s protected against water sprays and dust, which will give further peace of mind.
With 128GB of built-in storage and the option of augmenting this by up to 1TB via the included MicroSD card slot, the Nokia G42 5G also features 6GB of RAM. The 50MP main camera is accompanied by a pair of 2MP sensors on Depth and Macro duty while the front-facing camera has 8 megapixels.

Nokia is claiming 3-days of usage for the G42 5G, and when the 5,000 battery is running on empty there’s 20W charging on hand to refill it. Bluetooth 5.1 and FM radio support are present, as is a 3.5mm audio jack, and WiFi ax compatibility. Nokia is promising 2 OS upgrades for the phone which launches running Android 13 out of the box.
